Kildonan Spongee League 2024 Playoff Weekend Tournament Info
Please check draw sheet and web site regularly to make sure there are no changes as all times and locations are tentative and can be changed at ANY time. It is up the players to check as we may not be contacting teams is there is a schedule change, just putting it online
If snow or any other situation beyond our control happens, games may be delayed as long as it takes to get games in.
Teams please arrive early for games (especially goaltenders)
Late penalties will be strictly enforced on Playoff Weekend. No warm-ups at Game time. Head to ice 5 minutes ahead of time of you want warmups

Saturday 12:30 PM- 8 PM (or earlier if not busy)
Sunday-11:30- 10 PM (or later if busy)

No bags or sticks allowed in the hall all weekend
Anyone caught with outside liquor or using marijuana or illegal drugs on (or near) the premises will be suspended for remaining playoffs and banned from the Community Centers for the weekend. If a group is caught and no one “takes the rap” everyone in group will be considered guilty and barred from all league facilities from the weekend/s.
Anyone causing ANY disturbances in the beer gardens may be barred from League Facilities as well and suspended from League Play
Kildonan Spongee League Playoff Info
One 30 second time out per team per game allowed - the clock will be stopped. Line changes ALLOWED on time outs
ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE PLAYED 4 REGULAR SEASON GAMES ON YOUR TEAM TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PLAYOFFS FOR YOUR TEAM (Goalies 2 games)
A LIST OF AVAILABLE PLAYERS IS AVAILABLE SEE BOB IN THE BEER GARDENS. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT A PLAYER ON YOUR TEAM. MAKE SURE ALL PLAYERS HAVE ID WITH THEM. ANY PROTESTS OF PLAYERS WILL BE A $20.00 DEPOSIT PER PLAYER, WITH MONEY RETURNED IF PROTEST IS VALID. YOU MUST PROTEST PLAYER BEFORE GAME IS OVER. ANY TEAM CAUGHT USING ILLEGAL PLAYERS (By Protest or League Officials) WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM PLAYOFFS
Men’s playdowns go February 9th- 11th Coed 16th- 18th as long as the entire first weekend is played. If there is bad weather it will be played the following weekend. All teams keep the entire weekend open as all teams will be playing Friday night, as well as Saturday and Sunday. The draw sheet will be posted at Melrose that weekend, so it is up to the teams to check it for their remaining games.
HOME TEAM- Home team is higher ranked REGULAR SEASON TEAM
Home team does not switch jerseys if teams have same colors
Home team picks which end they want for overtime (On Sunny day, this could be a factor)
Teams will still be paying refs for all playoff games.
SCORECARDS-
Please put first AND last name on the score cars. Refs will be texting in scores to teams do NOT need to bring cards in o Melrose after the games this year
All times are TENATIVE, as bad weather or equipment problems or overtime games can delay games. PLEASE check draw sheet at Melrose after each of your games to make sure there are no changes. We will delay games as much as possible to try and get games in if bad weather occurs. Team were told to keep whole weekend open when they registered team in November
If teams are waiting for players who are playing on another team...we will NOT delay games and you must start at game time with what you got.
Be ready at game time. Ask ref doing on your rink how much time is ref in previous game so your team can be waiting at the gate when it ends so you can warn up goalie
Refs have been instructed to crack down on verbal abuse. 3 minute penalties and 10 minute and game misconducts will be handed out for verbal abuse. Remember- refs are only human too
NEW Playoff Overtime Format
All tie games must be broken
Sudden death 3 on 3 until there is a winner….higher ranked team has choice of sides for OT (if sun is shining this could be a factor)
Any power plays will be 4 on 3 for one man advantage, 5 on 3 for 2 man advantage in OT. (penalties in regulation can carry over to overtime)
In 3 on 3 once penalty ends penalized player comes on to play. At first whistle teams adjust back to proper amount of players on the ice
Additional OT rules for Coed- 3 on 3 is 2 guys and 1 girl
Coed Power Play Rules- In 3 on 3, team with power play plays 3 guys, 1 girl, and short handed team plays 2 guys, 1 girl

Teams please arrive early for games (especially goaltenders)
Late penalties will be strictly enforced on Playoff Weekend.
Late penalties waived if team is late because of conflicting coed game to men’s or women’s game (we have made sure this should not happen) We will not hold up games for players playing on 2 men’s or 2 women’s or 2 coed games if they happen to conflict.
If team hasn't enough players at scheduled game time, 1 goal for every 2 minutes will be awarded, and that time will be deducted from the game. If team still can't ice a team after 10 minutes it is considered a defaulted game. If your goaltender isn’t ready at game time, you can wait for him/her to get there, taking the goals against penalty/s as stated above or designate a goalie. If your goaltender isn't coming, and you have no equipment, have a player act as the goaltender. The acting goalie must remain the same player for the entire half, or until a goaltender with equipment shows up. If goaltender shows up late, NO WARM UPS allowed. You must have an acting goaltender for the entire game (except the final 5 minutes of the second half or on delayed penalties when extra players is free to play the whole rink)

All players call the league info line at 204-654-2255 EVERY game day for possible schedule changes, delays or postponements.
The League will not be calling the teams to cancel games but will be emailing teams with makeup dates
